It is amazing how many of us actually find it difficult to run any great distance, or sustain a fast sprint for more than a few short metres. Or how poor our running techniques are from bad posture or many years poor habits, following little practice and development. The fact is, todays modern lifestyles have effected our natural efficiency at running.

Running Fitness Training covers many different aspects of physical conditioning, dependent on the type of running you are doing. From sports specific sprinting and mid distance cross country running, through to full distance marathon running. Different styles of running will makes physical demands on your muscle groups in very different ways.

Running can wreak havoc on your joints. For every mile you run, it is thought that your heel slams the ground with a force that is equal to 1000 times your body weight. Not surprisingly this creates a jarring sensation up the leg, and is torture on the hamstrings.

Training programs have to be developed to meet an individual needs, and take into consideration many factors: gender, age, strengths, weaknesses, objectives and distance; whilst developing all the energy pathways, muscular system and technique.
